Born on March 31, 1761 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to parents Johannes George (1730-1781) and Marie Ursula Engesser (1738-1780) Minear.
He served having enlisted in the Harrison County Militia in Harrison County Virginia. which is now Randolph County, Virginia/West Virginia, with the rank of Lieutenant probably at Minear’s Fort.
He married 1) Winnie Farmer (1767-1802), 2) March 24, I803. Philip married Elizabeth RitchhartI (1768- I835) in Union Township. Ross County, Ohio, 3) Agatha Jones (1763-_) ; children: Hannah b. 1775, Caty b. 1787, Elizabeth b. 1789, Susanna b. 1790, Stephen b. 1792, Philip b. 1795, Solomon b. 1796, Sarah b. 1799, Mary b. 1800, Adam b. 1802 and Rachel.
Philip is reported to have also served in the War of 1812.
He died probably in 1846 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio. Philip is buried in the Springbank Cemetery, located just south of Yellowbud on State Route 104 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio.
