Corporal in Capt. Samuel Ashes 1st Troop- NC Dragoons- Revolutionary War - Copy of military papers MIL004-LWR He received land grants in Granville Co., NC for his service during the war- two dated 1781 and 1 dated 1782. Later he moved to Cumberland Co., NC. His will dated 18 Oct 1818 is on file in Cumberland Co., NC Bk# unknown, page 19. In 1833 when Arnold's estate seemed to have been settled, his children were living in GA. In Deed Book 41, page 52-53, Cumberland Co., NC dated 2 Oct 1833 the following is listed. Jesse Mann and others of Fayette Co., GA to John M. Dobbin of Cumberland Co., NC 500 acres south side of Cape Fear River, Cumberland Co., NC in 3 tracts of 200 acres and 100 acres each in estate of Arnold Mann, Jesse Mann, Young Mann, Larkin Campbell, administrators , all of Fayette Co., GA. Information on Family from " Historical Southern Families, Volume IX", Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, Maryland, page 280-286 by John Bennett Bodie Buried in cemetery at Cape Fear River Plantation near Fayetteville, Cumberland County, NC. Reported by Rachel Caldwell Chapter. Service: Corporal, serving in Captain Samuel Ashe’s 1st NC Troops, Light Dragoons, January 1778-August 1778. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
