In the History of Fulton County, Pennsylvania in Chapter LXXXIX, on page 652 and 653, states that Andrew Mann was living in Bethel Township, Bedford County and listed as being a taxable inhabitant for the year 1774. He is the same Andrew Mann, Sr. who came from Germany to New Jersey and thence to Pigeon Cove, before the revolution.
Under authority of a resolution of congress, dated July 15, 1776 (Journal, vol 1, 411-419) the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment of the Continental Line in 1776 was raised for the defense of the western frontier. The Bedford County company was commanded by Captain Andrew Mann whose home was in that part of Bedford now known as Fulton County. Captain in the Pennsylvania Line September 14, 1776. Captain Andrew Mann commanded a company of Bedford County, Pennsylvania soldiers who fought with George Washington's troops at the Battle of Brandywine and at Germantown.
Son of the American Revolution 1. Served as Revolutionary Soldier, as listed in PA. Archives, Series. 2, Vol. 13, Page 138
2. A personal family record states Andrew Mann enlisted Sept. 14, 1776.
3. Served as Captain of company in Col Daniel Brodhead Command, Eighth Pennsylvania Regiment which was authorized by Congress July 15, 1776 as stated in Pennsylvania Archives, Series 5, Vol. 3, Pages 305, 307, 308. These latter pages stating that Col. Daniel Brodhead’s Command experienced active service.
4. Made return as Captain, as set forth in Pennsylvania Archives, Series 6, Vol. 3, pages 318 & 319.
5. Reported sick in quarters May 2, 1777 to June 9, 1777, Pennsylvania Archives Series 5, Vol. 3, pages 314, 318, 319, 320.
6. Served as Major in Lieut. Col. Thomas Paxton Battalion Pennsylvania Archives Series 6, Vol. 3, page 17.
7. Subject to Militia Duty in 1783 - 1790 Pennsylvania Archives Series 6, Vol. 3, page 34

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
