James Lynn’s (also referred to as Linn) father was Arthur Lynn Sr. and his Mother was Rachel Crowe. James Lynn was born about 1740 in Town Creek, Frederick County, Maryland.
He served as a private in Captain Andrew Linn’s Company of Rangers from Westmorland County, Pennsylvania.
James Lynn married Hannah Wright Brunt on 08 July 1788 in Nelson County, Kentucky. They had 9 children: 1. Nancy Lynn born in 1789, 2. James Lynn born in 1790, 3. Hannah Lynn born in 1793, 4. John Lynn born in 1795, 5. William Henry Lynn born on 07 Jan 1798 and who is the 3rd great grandfather of the submitter, 6. Isaac Wesley Lynn born in 1802, 7. Benjamin Lynn born in 1804, 8. Andrew Lynn born in 1806, 9. Eleanor Lynn born in 1808.
James Lynn died about 1833 in Ohio County, Kentucky.
There are various sources showing that James Lynn served honorably in the Revolutionary War including DAR National Numbers 130760 and 467130 as well as the PA Archives, 5th Series, IV, p. 445.

The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
