Jacob Ludwig was born February 22, 1761 in Amity Twp., Berks County, PA, son of Michael & Eva Rosina (Bechtel) Ludwig. On December 4, 1781 (Schwartzwald Reformed Church Records) he married Ellenora Sadler (1761-1832). Jacob Ludwig was the father of seven children: John, Anna Mary “Polly”, Sarah “Sallie”,Elizabeth, Catharine “Cathy”, Philip and Jacob Jr. `
Jacob Ludwig was a farmer his entire life. He died on January 26, 1813 in Cumru Twp., Berks County, PA, probably on his homestead. He and his wife are buried at the St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery, Sinking Spring, Berks County, PA. During the Revolutionary War Jacob Ludwig was a private in the Berks County, Pennsylvania Militia.
