(Johan) Michael Mentzer was born on April 20, 1741 in Hagsfeld, Baden, Germany.

He came to America prior to 1768 and settled in Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland.

(Johan) Michael Mentzer was a Private 4th Class in Capt Conrad Hogmire’s Company (1776/1777) of Maryland Militia in Washington County.

He died on November 3, 1801 and is buried in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland.
