William Logan was born on 2 January 1735 in Ayrshire, Scotland, and died on 16 January 1803 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He married Margaret (Mary) J. Lewis, and they had several children together, including:

  • Phebe was born on 20 August 1788 and married Samuel Leonard in 1805.

William was a Private on 25 June 1777 in Captain Ezekial Letts’ First Company of first-class feet, in the service of the United States commanded by Colonel Bradford Esq. He was appointed as a Sergeant on 15 September 1777 in Captain John Wainright’s Company, 5th Class of Philadelphia Militia in the service of the United States, commanded by Joseph Copperwait Esq.
