Stephen Lewis was born August 1749 in Stratford, CT, where he died aged 90, in July 1839.  He enlisted in 1775 as a private in Capt. Ichabod Lewis' company; was a private in 1776 in Capt. Nathaniel Wheeler's company, and in 1777 in Capt. Araham Brinsmade's company.  He turned out in 1779 when Tryon invaded the colony, and was at the burning of Farifield.  He was placed on the pension roll at the age of 84.  He was married, September 12, 1768 to Jerusha, born March 31st, 1753; died February 12, 1838.

Thre wre six children from the marriage of Stephen Lewis and Jerusha:  Charity, Caty, Anne, Betty and twin boys, Abraham Curtis and Stephen Curtis.  

This Lewis family lived six generations in Stratford, Fairfield County, CT.
