DANIEL LANGTON, SR. was born 24 DEC 1720 in Southington, Hartford County, Connecticut, to parents JOSEPH LANGTON and RACHEL COLES. 31 MAR 1755, DANIEL married PHEBE CLARK in Southington, Connecticut. DANIEL served as a Lt. in the 3rd Cavalry, 5th Regiment, Connecticut Militia. In July 1779, DANIEL fought the British during General Tryon’s unsuccessful invasion of the coastal cities of Connecticut. DANIEL served as Captain in command of the 3rd Company, 15th Regiment, Connecticut Militia, under Col. Asa Bray. DANIEL’s oldest son, DANIEL LANGTON, JR. also served as a Patriot with the Connecticut Militia during the Revolution. DANIEL LANGTON, SR. died on 20 JAN 1812 at his home in Southington, Connecticut, and was buried 21 JAN 1812 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington, next to his wife, PHEBE. A SAR Grave Marking Ceremony was sponsored by a descendant, COMPATRIOT DAVID WHITFIELD, and was held on 30 JUL 2005.
