Philip King was Captain of the 4th Raynham County, 3d Bristol Company Regiment of the Massachusrtts Militia. He appears in a list of officers chosen by the several companies in the Regiment, as returned by George Williams and James Williams, Jr., field officers, dated April 10, 1776. He was ordered in Council, April 13, 1776, that the officers be commissioned. He was reported commissioned April 5, 1776. He was also Captain of a Raynham Company, under Colonel George Williams’ (3d Bristol Company) Regiment. He received his discharge December 31, 1776. His length of service was 25 days at Rhode Island. His company marched from Raynham to Warren, Rhode Island, via Rehoboth, December 8, 1776, on an alarm.
The following record from Massachusetts Town and Vital Records Deaths, Mansfield 1620-1988, for Philip King, details his death, 28 October 1823, at Mansfield, Massachusetts. No further information provided. His second wife, Martha Bower, is buried in at the East Mansfield Cemetery, Massachusetts.
