Service Description:

When William Kenyon was born on January 30, 1731, in Charlestown, Rhode Island, his father, David, was 38 and his mother, Mary, was 27. He married on March 9, 1755, in Rhode Island o Hannah Niles They had at least three children.

He served as an Ensign in Capt. Clarks Co., Rhode Island Volunteers, 1761, 1780, 1783 and 1796 (Ref. Vol. I Civil and Military History, R.I.) Service in this unit in 1761 was under English rule in the French and Indian War. David Kenyon (Kinyon), son of William served as a substitute for his father during a period of five years in which time he spent two years, one month with the company under Captain Simeon Clark and later under Richard Bailey. The regimental commander was Colonel Charles Dyer.

He died in 1800 in Argyle, New York, at the age of 69.
