William Jones    b. 11/17/1758     d. 2/20/1841    (JASPER COUNTY, GEORGIA)

He enlisted in Virginia September 1, 1776 and served as a private, and then as a Sergeant in Captain Joseph Pannell's Company, under Colonel Samuel Elbert. He served with the Georgia Troops until the latter part of 1779 when he was discharged at Augusta, Georgia due to wounds he received in battle.He later enlisted and served with the Virginia Troops under Major Armistead and Colonel Meriwether until the close of the war. He died in Jasper County.
