Author: Michael J. Blum
Born on June 9, 1759, in Somerset County, New Jersey, and later was a wagon master in General Washington’s army in New Jersey.

He Died on January 15, 1832 in the 73rd year of his age. Buried in Dunlap Cemetery, W side of East Miami River Road, about 2 mi. S of Colerain Avenue, Hamilton County, OH. SAR marker.

He was paid for his service with land warrants, which he sent to Colonel Israel Ludlow with a request that he procure for him a piece of land as near Cincinnati as possible. Colonel Ludlow obtained for him a half section of land west of Mt. Pleasant (Mt. Healthy). His wives were Jemima Hampton and Jane Kirkpartick. He deeded the land to his three sons; Cary, Andrew, and Samuel. They settled on the land in 1807.
