Joseph Irish served as a Private in Capt. Richard Mayberry's Co., Col. Ebenezar [sic] Francis Regt. Enlisted 7 July 1779 - Discharged 25 September 1779. Service on the Penobscot Expedition - listed in payroll (MA Archives, Vol. 37, pp. 83 & 128) for Capt. Alexander McLellan's Co. of Col. Jonathan Mitchell's Regiment as having served July 7 to Sept. 25, 1779. Also Capt. John Reed's Co., Col. Samuel McCobb's Regt. Enlisted 8 Aug. 1781, Discharged 1 December 1781. Service in defense of seacoast. He also served as a solider in the French and Indian Wars. Joseph was born 12 April 1728 and died 14 April 1808 in Buckfield, Oxford Co., Maine.
