William Hudnall was born in April 1732. In William Bryan and Robert Rose’s book A History of the Pioneer Families of Missouri (published 1876), William Hudnall was from England, however; the Hudnall Family Association places his birth in Prince William County, Virginia, as a son of Thomas Hudnall and Winifred Champion.
William married Frances “Fanny” McGeorge about 1754. They had one child, born in 1755 and died young. No documentary evidence has been found of this first marriage and child.
William married Frances Smith on 15 December 1757, in Goochland County, Virginia. Their known children were:
Susannah born 13 September 1758.
Frances was born on 20 September 1760.
John was born on 22 June 1763.
Mary “Molly” was born on 1 December 1765.
Joanna was born on 5 March 1768.
Thomas Smith was born on 14 January 1771.
William Jr. was born on 2 February 1774.
Richard was born on 22 March 1775.
Nancy was born on 18 January 1783.
In 1760, William was a lieutenant in the Virginia Militia of Goochland County. During the American Revolution, William served as a First Lieutenant in the Bedford County, Virginia, Militia.
He signed and sealed his Last Will and Testament on 31 January 1813, and it was probated on 22 February 1813 at Bedford, Virginia. His final resting place is not known.

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
