  2. Enlisted 17 Mar 1777 as a private in the First Troop, Colonel Sheldon's Dragoons from Middletown, Connecticut
  3. Honorably discharged at the close of the war with the rank of sergeant

Abijah Hubbard enlisted as a private in the First Troop of Colonel Sheldon's Dragoons in March 1777, and served until the unit was disbanded in June 1783.  He was promoted to corporal in 1778 and Sergeant, November 1, 1780.  He served at the Battles of Brandywine, Germantown, and in the Yorktown Campaign.
