Hezekiah’s father, also a Patriot named Hezekiah, was born in Southampton, LI in but migrated north to Orange County where Hezekiah Jr was born in 1741.

In the Revolution Howell was a 2nd Major in the Orange County Militia Minute Men and also had civilian patriot service as the Sheriff of Orange County during the war. He married Juliana Woodhull in 1767. She was the sister of General Nathanial Woodhull.

He died in 1815 in Blooming Grove, NY.
