Henry Hoffa was born December 29, 1739, in Baden-Baden, Wurttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Johann Melchior Hoffa and Anna Hesler Hoffa. The family arrived in America and settled in Pennsylvania sometime between 1727 and 1754.
Henry Married Maria Salome in 1761.
Henry’s revolutionary service was in Captain Jacob Rhoades’ Company of Colonel Jacob Vesyer’s 5thBattalion of the Berks County Militia. He also served as the Berks County Sheriff in 1780-1781 and was custodian to Hessian prisoners taken at Trenton and held in Reading.
Henry died January 1, 1801, in Reading, PA. Maria died on January 17, 1802, also in Reading.
