Thomas Hill was born in Tyron Country, North Carolina 27 March 1762 and died on 13 May 1841 in Cape Giradeau, Missouri.

His wife was Elizabeth Walker (granddaughter of Colonel John Walker (P-312212).

He participated in the campaigns at Ramsour's Mill, King's Mountain, Cowan's Ford and Raft Swamp.
