Directions to Cemetery / Gravesite:

Cemetery is located on a dirt road north of Elberton, GA. It is on the right side of Brewers Bridge Rd, 1.6 miles after crossing the RR track in town. It is about 15-20 ft. off the road in trees and difficult to find or see. It is now surrounded by a chain link fence.

Samuel Higginbotham was born in 1745 and served as a Lieutenant and later a Captain of a Rifle Company in the Amherst County, Virginia, Militia. He died in August 1803 and was buried in Old Higginbotham Family Burying Ground on Hop Brewer farm, south of Elberton, Georgia.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
