Burroughs “Burris” Higginbotham born 1759 in Amherst County, Virginia and died before 1-10-1816 (aged 56-57) in present Nassau County, Florida. Considered the ‘Founding Father of Nassau County,’ Burris arrived in Florida Spanish America in the late 1780s.

Burial in the Higginbotham Family Cemetery, Evergreen, Nassau County, Florida.
