James Hersey, my 4th great Grandfather, he was a private in Captain William Reed’s Company, General Thomas’s Regiment according to muster roll dated Aug. 1 1775; enlisted June 1 1775. Also listed on muster list by James Hatch, muster master for Plymouth Company to serve until Jan 1 1779 in Captain Cobb’s CO. Also listed as a sergeant in Captain Jacob Pool’s CO, under Colonel Jacob’s (Plymouth Company) service was 3 months 13 days including 13 days travel home. Company was raised to reinforce the Continental Army for 3 months. After his service he married Alathea Poole and moved to the state of Maine and settled on land awarded under his pension for service.
