Born April 15, 1759 at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a son of Stewart Herbert (1721-1778) and Sydney McDill Herbert (1741-1778). He was a soldier in the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Militia. He married Margaret Gibson (1767-1845); children: Stewart b. 1791, Sydney b. 1799 and Nancy b. 1815. He died at 89 years of age, April 16, 1848 at East Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio, and was buried at Longs Run Cemetery, 15851 Longs Church Rd., Calcutta, Columbiana County, OH 43920. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
