George was born enroute on the ship “Brothers” in Aug 24, 1752 from Germany to Philadelphia to George Sebastian Helman, Sr. (1725-1784) and Christina (Cook) Helman (1729-1810). His family migrated to Guilford Township (Cumberland County) to homestead. He later had 2 siblings. Before the war he married Elizabeth Cook and raised 8 children from 1774 to 1799. During the Revolutionary War he enlisted at age 22 years as private with his father under in Captain Conrad Snider’s 4th Company, 1st Battalion, Cumberland County Militia in 1780 commanded by LTC James Johnson. He died Jan 20, 1832 and is buried in Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg (formerly Cumberland County), Franklin County, PA.
His father (DAR # A135428) was also a patriot serving in the 8th Battalion as a private under Captain Samuel Royar 1st Company, 8th Battalion in 1777, the later as corporal under Captain Conrad Snider’s 4th Company, 1st Battalion in 1780, Cumberland County Militia.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
