He served as a Captain in the Virginia State Troops.

Buried: Old Thomas Heard Cemetery - "left 6 miles on Cold Spring Road (south on Woods Road, approximately 3/4 mile on left)" - "three miles west of Greensboro, just to the left of the road leading to the Stock-Willis Place."
