Born on July 4, 1758 in Montgomery, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He served as an Ensign in the Pennsylvania Militia, an Ensign in Captain Henry Nevel’s Company, 5th Battalion, Philadelphia County, PA Militia and an Ensign in Captain Philip Gabel’s Company, 5th Battalion, Philadelphia County, PA Militia. He married 1) Maria Magdelena Gilbert (1761-1797) 2) Margaret Simon Kitner (1768-1844); children: #1 Jacob, Solomon & Henry, #2 John, Margaret, Salome and Anne. Henry came to Ohio from Washington County, Pennsylvania with numerous Children, in the 1820 Census he resided in Washington Township, Columbiana (Now Carroll) County, OH. He died on November 4, 1838 at 80 years in Hibbits, Brown Township and buried at Harsh Swamp Cemetery, Lunar Road NW, Washington Township, Carroll County, OH 44615. Cemetery notes and/or description: The cemetery is located on the north side of Lunar Road NW (Township Road 234) about 600 feet east of its intersection with Ruby Road NW (Township Road 465). The cemetery is located in Washington Township, Carroll County, Ohio. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
