Qualifying Service Description:

In 1781 he served 12 days of service as a Private in the Company of Captain Daniel Taylor under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel John Collar of the Berkshire County, Massachusetts Militia

Isaac Harmon was born on 9 May 1751 in Suffield, Hartfield County, Connecticut, thought to be the son of Asa and Miram (King) Harmon.

He was married on 3 December 1772 in New Marlboro, Berkshire, Massachusetts to his cousin Elizabeth Harmon, sadly she died nine years later in 1781. The source of their children comes from approved SAR and DAR applications1 and from the book “The Harmon Genealogy.”2

  • Isaac1,2 was born on 31 October 1773/74 and married Mary Rawson.
  • Dan2 was born on 9 April 1777.

Isaac married a second time to Sylvia Hocum in 1784.

  • Elizabeth2 was born on 6 September 1785 and married Justus Humiston.
  • Eleanor2 was born on 25 August 1787 and married Uriel Woodrugg.
  • Joel2 was born on 30 November 1793 and died as an infant.
  • Lyman1,2 was born on 4 December 1794 and married Marinda Sanford.
  • Sally2 was born on 7 March 1801 and married Jared Kilborn.

On 13 October 1781, during the Revolutionary War, Isaac joined the Company of Captain Daniel Taylor as a Private under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel John Collar of the Berkshire County, Massachusetts Militia. The Company marched under orders from Colonel John Ashley Jr. on an alarm at the Northward. He was discharged on 20 October 1781 after twelve days of service, including four days and 84 miles to travel home.

A search of Oswego County, New York didn’t find any probate or will records. The Patriot died on 11 December 1839 in Sandy Creek, Oswego County, New York.
