HANNA, JOHN, (Jackson County)            [39.0592003 -82.6264038]

Born at Greenbrier County, Virginia.  He was a Virginia private and sergeant in the Continental Line under Captains Samuel Lapsley and Alexander Breckinridge, 1777-1780, in Colonel Cist's Virginia Regiment, Continental Line.  He was a prisoner for 18 months after the Battle of Charleston, South Carolina.  He was with Washington at Monmouth.  He also served under General Andrew Lewis in Dunmore's War.  He married Jane Graham (Grimes); Children: James, Nancy, John, Robert, Christopher, Joseph, Jane, Elizabeth and Martha.  He applied for and received a pension of $96 annually from July 6, 1825 until his death at *S41607.  He died April 11, 1845, aged about 90 years at Madison Furnace and was buried at Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Jackson County, Ohio.  GM by D.A.R.  References:  Mrs. Ada Carrigan, Jackson, Ohio.  20th-27th Annual Reports DAR.  Senate documents (United States Congress, Senate), Government Printing Office: Washington, DC.  SAR Ancestor # P-174581.  DAR# A051189.  Has a tombstone and a DAR marker.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
