William Hankinson served in Captain Walton’s Troop of Light Dragoons, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

In 1737, William was born 1737 in Rowland Mills, Sussex County, New Jersey and died in 1796 in Sussex County, New Jersey and is buried with his wife in the Yellow Framed Church Cemetery, Warren County, New Jersey.

William married Susannah DeWitt in 1760 and the marriage produced the following children—

1. Ann (1758-1763 )
2. Rachel (1759-1821) married Joseph Huff
3. Joseph B. (1762-1815) married Hannah Goble
4. James (1762- 1823) married Elizabeth Hazen
5. Mary Polly (1768-1868) married Levi Rosenkrans

7. Aaron (1759-1825) married Margaret Vought
