Philip Hale was born on 18 Apr 1753 in Lancaster Co., Virginia. He died on 20 Oct 1819 in Warrensburg, Greene Co., Tennessee. He was the son of George Heale and Sarah Smith. On 23 Apr 1779 in Loudoun Co., Virginia, he married Catharine Douglas.

Children of Philip and Catherine were: Philip 1780-1781, George 1782-1862, Sarah 1784- 1849, William Douglas 1786-1814, Hugh Douglas 1787-1876, Joseph 1789-1873, Elizabeth 1791-1852, Philip Smith 1793-1867, Thomas Lewis 1795-1883, Jane 1797-1814, Patrick Hume 1799-1844, and Catherine Douglas 1801-1883.

Philip and Catharine’s gravestone is in the small Hale Family Cemetery near Fish Hatchery Road, TN. State Road 340, Knob Creek Road near the Nolichucky River, Greene Co., TN. GPA coordinates N 36 degrees 07.738”; W 083 degrees 07.623”; Elev 143 ft.

Philip Hale is listed as furnishing supplies of beef as shown by the Public Service Claims, Fauquier County, Virginia Court Booklet 61-1451 from March 25, 1782 to May 3, 1782.
