1778-1783, he served as a Corporal and later a Sergeant in the companies of Captain Henry Luce, Nathaniel Bowman, and DeHart, commanded by Colonel Shreve of the 2nd New Jersey Regiment

Served under Capts. Luce, Bowman, D'Hart Born in 1754 in New Jersey. In spring of 1778 he enlisted in the 2nd New Jersey Regiment, under Colonel Shreve, was promoted to orderly sergeant and served to June 1783. “Gwinnup, George-1754 in NJ-1840/Revolutionary War Veteran” He Died on August 16, 1840, and was Buried in Duck Creek Baptist Cemetery. Located on the corners of Duck Creek and Edwards Roads, but has been abandoned and devastated. , the area was cleared for the I-71 Highway in the 1960’s. These stones were copied before the destruction began. { Works Progress Administration (WPA) Revolutionary War Veteran burial records in Ohio; Cincinnati-Hamilton County Public Library, History/Genealogy department.} He married Margaret Simpson in Morris County, New Jersey, on February 7, 1784. In 1805/06 he moved from Morris County to Ohio. On June 2, 1818 he applied for a pension while in Hamilton County in the care of Samual F. Hunt, Esquire.
