Jacob Grimm was born on 22 February 1754 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, the son of Johannes Conrad and Mariah Elizabeth (Frey) Grimm.
He married Deborah Reynolds and had twelve known children. She was born in 1764 and died on 15 September 1815.
Jacob was born on 1 November 1780 and married Mary Shimer.
Elizabeth was born in 1783.
Molly was born in 1783 and died in 1809.
Henry was born on 15 March 1786 and married Hannah Francisco.
David was born on 12 April 1787 and married Catherine Knabb.
George was born in 1790 and married Anna Wilson.
Rachael was born in 1790 and married Peter White.
John was born on 12 December 1790 and married Susanna Detweiler.
Mary was born in 1792 and married John Hyne.
Catherine was born on 22 November 1800 and married John Tomer.
Susannah was born on 13 December 1802 and married William Shady.
Deborah was born on 26 April 1805 and married Jacob Seesholtz.
Christian was born in 1807.
Jacob enlisted for two months in 1778 as a Private in Captain Jacob Waggoner’s Company, Colonel James Dunlop’s Pennsylvania Regiment. He was in an engagement with some Hessians on the Schuylkill River on the same day as the battle of Germantown. He re-enlisted for two months before Easter 1778 in Captain Kilian Leihy’s Company. On 10 May 1780, he was commissioned as an Ensign and served two months starting in October 1780 in Colonel Bopst’s Regiment guarding the western frontier. He was later in Captain Frederick Sechler’s Company doing the same. He served two tours for more than one month each in the Wagon Brigade and one-month taking care of horses for the Continental Army. He also volunteered twice as a member of a scouting party.
He came to Ohio in 1803.
The Patriot died on 20 April 1837 in Fairfield County. He is buried in the Tarlton Cemetery, but no stone marks his grave.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
