NASH GLIDEWELL was born in Bristol Parish, Prince George County VA on June 19, 1721. He was part-owner of a modest tobacco plantation in Halifax Co. VA with his younger brother Robert Glidewell (b.1722).
He enlisted on February 14, 1778 for one year as a private in Captain Thomas Thweatt's company, 14th VA Regiment, which was subsequently designated the 10th VA Regiment Continental Troops, commanded by Colonel William Davies. He was transferred in July 1778 to Captain John Mark's company in the same Regiment. He was reported on the company muster rolls for June, July and August of 1778, and was among those thousands who were sick at Valley Forge. He was transferred in October of 1778 to Major Cabell's Company of the same regiment and was reported on the muster roll from September 1778 to 1779, the last roll on which his name appears. He was also reported sick at the encampment at French Creek.
About 1741, he married Martha Bannister(unproven) and they had at least ten (10) children: His Will, dated July 14 1794 and probated/recorded on January 26, 1795, Hallifax Co., VA Will Book 3 pg. 160) names children: Robert; John; Mary (Goode); Edy (Gill); Sarah (Glass); Rachael (Elliot); Judith (Harrison); Elender (Davis); Hannah (Whitlow); and Jinney Glidewell. The gravesite for Nash Glidewell has not been located.
His parents are claimed to be Robert Glidewell and Elizabeth Susan Nash.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
