Jacob Glessner was born Sept 21, 1732 in Bingen-on-the Rhine, formerly Bavaria, Germany. He married Catherine Elizabeth Miller in 1760 then came to Pennsylvania with his family and brother Henry on the ship “Richmond” in 1673. They had the following children: 1. Jacob Glessner, Jr. 1761 – 1837 2. Johannes Engle 14 Sept 1762 -- 1783 3. Peter 17 Oct 1764 – 23 Jan 1836 4. Anna Maria (Knepper) 5 April 1766 – 1 Dec 1835 5. Elizabeth (Kuhns) 2 Feb 1769 – 3 Jan 1854 6. Catherine (Ream) 25 Mar 1771 – 7 Nov 1799 7. Rosanne Margretha (Lore) 1776 -- 1849 During the Revolutionary War he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Brothers’ Valley 3rd Company Bedford County Militia under Capt Henry Rhoads from 1777-78; 1st Battalion PA Militia commanded by Col. William Parker. In the PA Militia Archives his name is spelled Glessnor. Jacob died on 21 Mar 1794 following a stab wound inflicted by Cyriarus Spangerberg. He was followed by his wife Catherine on 23 Sept 1797. Both are buried in the Old Reformed Church Cemetery, Berlin, Somerset County PA at North and Vine St. His headstone is a modern perpetual marker from the Dept Veterans Affairs.
