Author: William Robert Baccus

Alexander Gilreath was born November 15, 1755, in Butler County, North Carolina, and he died November 11, 1853 or 54, in Wilkes County, North Carolina.

He married Elizabeth Souther June 7, 1781, in Wilkes County, North Carolina.

His parents were William Gilreath (who was also a Patriot) and Mary Arrington. Alexander and Elizabeth had the following children: Mary Marlow, William Jeremiah, George, Ronda, Martin, Lucy, Larkin W., James Harvey, Noah, Elizabeth, and Alexander, Jr.

Alexander was a Private and Orderly Sargent in the Wilkes County, North Carolina Militia.
