Thomas Gibson married Agnes Williams birth,about 1740 Virginia. Son of Ziba and Mary Bennett Gibson Scotland
According to DAR Records, Thomas Gibson was born in VA ca 1735 and served with NC Troops and was a Lieutenant. He had 13 children.
Their children purchased land near each other in the following areas: Anson County, NC from 1750's to 1770's, Chesterfield County, South Carolina from 1780's to 1800's, and Marion County, Mississippi, from 1808 to 1830's
Children 1.Nelson Gibson his will was made in April, 1823, Richmond County, North Carolina, identifies his children: William, Nelson, Nathan, Duke, Samuel, Sally, Nancy & Agnes. NOTE: Find a grave marker tombstone picture is that of his uncle and bio is a mixture of uncle and nephew information. 2.James Gibson married Divinity Adams must have died in early Manhood after his marriage, not named in the will of Thomas Gibson, only issue was Shockley Gibson married Elizabeth Patterson of Georgia 3.Stafford Gibson married Nancy Ann Sumrall, daughter of Thomas and Ann Thomas Sumrall. 4.Thomas Jr Gibson married Polly Moorman 5.Elisha W. Gibson married lst: Emily Quick 2nd: Nancy Gibson, widow of his brother Elijah Gibson. 6.Frances Gibson married John Watson 7.Agnes Gibson Sumrall married Levi Sumrall son of Thomas and Ann Sumrall. 8. Sarah Sally Gibson Sumrall married David Sumrall, brother of Nancy & Levi Sumrall 9. Mary Gibson She married James Henry Strong sr. six children of this marriage 10.John Gibson married Nancy Pearce, owned 1200 acres were the parents of 21 children. 11.Nathaniel Gibson married 1st: Rachel Mendenhall and 2nd: Elizabeth Mendenhall, who were sisters and daughters of Stephen Elizabeth Rick Mendenhall. Nathaniel issued 15 children Nathaniel is buried in the old Gibson Cemetery near the town of Gibson in Richmond County, NC, He lived to be quite old, and was an invalid from the effects of paralysis. He would sometimes get in his cups and would say that his name was "McGregor," being always proud of his Scotch ancestry. 12 Elijah Gibson married Nancy Gibson, his first cousin, daughter of Nelson Gibson
About the year 1750 a widow by the name of Gibson emigrated from the English settlement of Virginia to the Carolinas and settled on Rocky Fork Branchy ten miles north of Rockingham in Richmond Co, NC. John and Walter Gibson on the north side of Rockey River would Ziba brothers in Anson Co. This lady had two sons and one daughter, Those two sons were named Thomas and Nelson and both of them were brave gallant soldiers in the revolutionary struggle. . Thomas received land grants of 100 acres each both in 1768 and 1769 in Anson Co. In 1787 and 1794 he received two additional grxants of 100 acres each in Richmond Co which was created in 1779. Both Thomas Sr. and Jr. saw service in the Revolutionary army. Gregg's "History of the Old Cheraw’s: lists on p 408,
