Jacob Frantz (P-161676)
Jacob Frantz was born in July 1763 at Northampton County, Pennsylvania, a son of Abraham Frantz and Catherine Williams. They had eleven children: Elizabeth, Abraham, John, Franzian, Esther, Jacob, Sarah, Maria, Hannah, Lewis and Samuel. His father, Abraham Frantz, purchased considerable land at Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and in 1796, Jacob Frantz built his home at the property which is currently located at the Greensburg County Club. The home is still in use by the greenskeeper and his family. Jacob Frantz and his family moved to the South Bend area of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, at an unknown date. He was a farmer and operated a large grain mill at Armstrong County. He donated the land for the South Bend Cemetery and was instrumental in the establishment of St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church at South Bend. Jacob Frantz died April 18, 1832 and was buried at the South Bend Cemetery, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. His wife, Elizabeth, died October 12, 1852 and was also buried at the South Bend Cemetery.
During the Revolutionary War, Jacob Frantz served in the Pennsylvania Militia as a private in the 8th Company of the 2nd Battalion, and was under the command of Captain Christopher Truby.
Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
