Born on October 22, 1747 in Pennsylvania. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Pennsylvania Militia, in Captain Samuel Erwin’s Company 4th Battalion, York County Militia commanded by Colonel William Smith. He married 1) Mary Magdalina__ )1743-1816), 2) Rosannah Forney (1756 - 1843); children: John, Peter, Andrew, Henry, Adam and Nicholas. After the War he moved from Mt. Pleasant Township, York County, Pennsylvania, to land he bought in Section 10, Columbiana County, OH in 1802. He built his log cabin and his family lived in a vineyard. In 1803 he assisted in road building from the state line to Peter Musser’s Hill, serving as a Road Viewer. Henry had the first public house in the Village of Unity before 1820, a small brick house with a frame lean-to located at the southeast corner of the square. He died on August 21, 1831 at 84 years and buried at Unity Brick Presbyterian Cemetery (Forney Cemetery), 1993 Waterford Road, East Palestine, Columbiana County, OH 44413. Cemetery notes and/or description: The Unity Brick Church Cemetery, also called Forney Cemetery, is located in Sec 10, Unity Twp. It is on Waterford road (Co. Rd. #450), north of Route 14 on the northwest side of the road, about 1/8 mi from Route 14. The cemetery surrounds the church, now called Unity United Church of Christ*(changed again) but formerly known as the Salem (or Union) Lutheran and Reformed Church. The first log meeting house was built 1803-1804 in the southwest corner of the Forney sec, No. 10. The building was replaced in 1823, and replaced again in 1861. The cemetery is located on the west side of Waterford Road (Township Road 942) about 700 feet north of its intersection with Ohio State Route 14. The cemetery was established in 1813. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
