FOLSOM, THOMAS (Trumbull County) [41.46530 -80.66560]
Born March 21, 1754 at Epping, New Hampshire, a son of David Folsom. He enlisted in Captain Brown's Company of Colonel Jacob Gale's Regiment of volunteers in the Continental Army for service at Rhode Island, August 7, 1778. He was at the Battle of Bunker Hill. He married Sally Watson; children: David, Noah, Watson, Moses b. 1792, Mary Polly b. 1781, Betsey, Hannah and Abigail. After the Revolution, he moved to Dorchester, Grafton Country, New Hampshire. He lived there about 10 years; then removed to Essex, Chittenden County, Vermont, in 1800. In 1809, he moved to Gustavus, Trumbull County, Ohio. In the winter of 1838-1839, he went to Youngstown, Ohio, to live with his son, Moses. His pension application was rejected because he could not give an exact date of his service. He died in 1840 and was buried at Old Gustavus Cemetery, Plot section 2 –lot 14 –grave 5, Trumbull County, Ohio. References: 56th-77th Annual Reports DAR. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
