Born January 6, 1756 at Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut, a son of Josiah Finney (1727-1773) and Sarah Carter (1732-1777). His war services are not recorded, but his name appears as a Revolutionary pensioner as he served as a private in Captain B. Beebe's Company, Colonel Ward's Regiment of the Connecticut Line.  He married Joanna Phelps (1764-1838) January 21, 1779; Children: Laura, Josiah, Seth C., Welthy, Polliana, Sally and Lucinda.  During his active years he followed farming.  He died December 18, 1844 at Johnston, Ohio, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, West Side - Old Section, Johnston, Trumbull County, OH.  MI: Name, date of death, "age 89 years."   GM by relatives, shortly after death.  References: D.
