Alexander Ferguson was born on 1747 in Scotland. He married Mary “May” Parker on 1 December 1778 in Franklin County, Kentucky. His children as proven by his Will.
Alexander was born on 8 May 1766 and married Nancy Wood.
Elizabeth was born on 7 September 1767 and married William Smith.
Thomas was born on 5 March 1769 and married Agnes Chambers.
Noah was born about 1771 and married Fanny Short.
Eli was born about 1773 and married Nomey Childress.
Mary was born on 16 January 1774 and married James Board Jr.
Martha was born about 1775 and married Patrick Donahoo.
Stephen was born about 1777.
Susannah was born on 16 January 1780 and married Thomas Short.
Daniel was born on 4 August 1782 and married Jemima Saunders.
During the Revolutionary War, Alexander joined the Company of Captain Henry Heth's Independent Company, Virginia Troops, and was in the rolls of March and April 1778 as a Private. During that time, he was on duty at Fort Pitt, a major western barracks on the confluence of the Monongahela and Ohio rivers [near modern-day Pittsburgh]. Captain Heth was from Frederick County.
Additionally, Alexander furnished supplies to the Commissary of John Ward.
Alexander made his Last Will and Testament at Franklin County, Virginia, on 29 October 1817. He lists his heirs as his wife Mary and children Thomas, Noah, El, Daniel, Stephen, Elizabeth [Smith], Mary’s [Board] children, Martha [Donaho], and Susanna [Short].
The Patriot died on 19 December 1817 in Franklin County, Virginia, and was buried in Mossy Creek United Methodist graveyard.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
