FARRAND, JARED, (Cuyahoga County)        [41.45120 -81.83620]

Born November 21, 1756.  At the time of the Revolutionary War, he ran away from home and joined Colonel Allen’s expedition and assisted in the capture of Ticonderoga as a private.  He was later employed as a scout by General St. Clair.  In 1777, he joined Captain Joseph Stafford’s company, known as the “Green Mountain Boys,” and served in many hotly contested engagements, being wounded several times.  He lived to attain the remarkable age of one hundred and five years.  He married Hannah Evans (1768-1744); child: Jared.  He died June 28, 1856 or 1862 and was buried at Fair View Cemetery, West 196 and Lorain Road, Rockport, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.  References:  12th-19th Annual Reports DAR.  Senate documents (United States Congress, Senate).  Government Printing Office: Washington, DC; National Archives, Revolutionary War Pension *S15423.  "Soldiers, Sailors and Patriots of the Revolutionary War, Vermont," Pg. 182.  Revolutionary War Graves Register. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
