FANCHER, WILLIAM  (Delaware County)                [40.1335983 -82.8281021]

Born July 7, 1764, a son of Nehemiah Fancher (1742-1820) and Amy Van Vliet (1744-1833).  He served with New York as a private in Captain Daniel Bouton's Company, Colonel Thaddeus Crane's Fourth Regiment of Westchester Militia.  He was shot in both feet by accident 10 June 1781.  He served nine months.  He was also in Captain Schofield's Company, Colonel Crane's Regiment.  He married Lucy Stark (1768-1848); children: Henry b. 1790, Samuel, William, Nancy, Amy, Nehemiah, David and Rebecca b. 1808.  William Fancher moved to Plains Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in 1789; was at Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, in 1800; and in 1807 moved to Harlem, being the second white family to settle in the latter place.  He was a farmer.  He received a pension for his services in the Revolutionary War.  He died February 3, 1829 and was buried at Fancher Cemetery, Harlem, Delaware County, Ohio.  References: 56th-77th Annual Reports DAR.  Senate documents (United States Congress, Senate).  Government Printing Office: Washington, DC.  SAR Ancestor # P-156332.  Has a tombstone and 1776 marker.  Cemetery number #-40811.     Find-a-Grave Memorial #- 5670375.
