Author: Christos Christou, Jr.

Amos Evans was born Sep. 28, 1733, in Chester Co, Pennsylvania, the son of Philip Evans and Elizabeth Harry.

He married Christiana Smith. He had at least five children:

  • Philip
  • Ruth
  • Susanna
  • Joshua.

He served as a Private in the Pennsylvania Militia in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the company of Captain Joshua Evans from 1776-80. Next, he served in the company of Captain Jenkins, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Militia between 1780-1790. He was destined for the camps in New Jersey: August 17, 177 through October 1780, in Lancaster Militia. He was at Sunbury in the company of Captain Jenkins Company in 1782. He was enrolled subject to call from 1776 to 1783 and saw service in New Jersey and at Philadelphia. He was enrolled in the militia up to 1790 in the Camps in New Jersey beginning August 17, 1776, and building defenses of Philadelphiaunder Captain Evans.

He died about March 1796 in Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania.
