Author: Charles Edwin Finley

Abraham Enlow was born in 1729 and married Jemima Elliott on 28 November 1754. The family moved from Maryland to Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1773 and settled on 400 acres of land. At the time, this land was part of Virginia.

During the Revolutionary War, he was named a Commissioner on 18 September 1776. When an outbreak of attacks occurred by Native American troops, allied with the British, he build a blockhouse for protection. He also served as a spy who reported on the movement of Native American troops who were loyal to the British.

His sons also served: Luke was a Lieutenant in the Ohio Company Militia in 1778, Elliott served as a Ranger in about 1782, and Abraham Jr. was a spy and Militia Captain during 1786-88.

Abraham died in 1808 and his estate papers list fourteen children:

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
