John Ellis was born abt 1728 in Kent Co., Maryland. He died aft 1810. He was the son of William Ellis and Mary Clarke. He married Mary Quinn.

Children of John and Mary were: William 1758-, John Jr 1760-1831, Francis 1763-, Edmund 1765-, Caleb 1767-, Martha Patsy 1769-, Abner 1772-, Asa Young 1777-, Aspasia Jane 1775-, and Mary 1779-.
