Ebenezer Eaton was born on 24 March 1744 in Needham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, the son of Josiah and Sarah Eaton.

He was first married to Sarah Humphrey on 28 September 1773 at Westminster, Worcester, Massachusetts. Sarah died on 12 October 1784.

  • Ebenezer [Jr.] was christened on 24 September 1775 and married Eunice Ramsdell.
  • Jonas was buried on 3 October 1776 and married Sally Powers.
  • Sally was christened on 30 May 1779 and married Elijah Baldwin
  • Humphry was christened on 1 December 1782 and married Judith Sulley.

He married a second time to Joanna Richardson on 18 March 1786 at Gardner, Massachusetts.

  • Betsy was born on 26 May 1786 and died young.
  • George was born on 19 February 1788 and married Apphia Smith.
  • Clarissa was born on 5 April 1795 and died young.

During the American Revolution, Ebenezer joined the Company of Captain Elisha Jackson at Westminster and they marched on an alarm on 19 April 1775 to Cambridge and joined the Regiment of Colonel Asa Whitcomb. He served for nine and one-half days.

The Patriot died on 18 Apr 1800 in Gardner, Worcester County, Massachusetts. It is thought that he was buried in the Old Burying Ground at Gardner, but there is no stone.
