William Dygert was born October 2, 1723 in SchFuchsendorf, Schoharie County, New York. He was the son of Johann Peter Dygert and Anna Elizabeth Fuchs / Fox. He married Maria Elizabeth Ecker. He had William Jr. b 1750; George W. b 1754; Peter W.; Anna Maria b. 1765. He died May 28, 1802 in Frankfort, Herkimer, New York. His patriotic service included NY State Militia where he served in the 2nd Tyron County Militia after the death of General Herkimer. Served as a private in the regiment of Col Kacob Klock. Was taken prisoner by Brandt in his raid of the valley, but was recaptured. He is buried at unknown location.
