DYE, ANDREW SR., (Miami County) [40.0536003 -84.3527985]
Born June 13, 1744 at Cranbury, New Jersey. He was a Captain for Pennsylvania and soldier in the Pennsylvania Line during the Revolution, for which he would receive a pension. Andrew and his family removed to Pennsylvania in 1771. He was recommended as first lieutenant in the Yohogania County, Virginia, Militia, 28 March 1780, but there is no further mention of his position. By the fall of 1780, Andrew had resettled across the Monongahela on Big Whitely Creek where, in May 1785, he had warranted a tract of land under the title "Sparrows Nest." He married (1) Sarah Minor (1745-1791), (2) Ann Lamb Evans (1767-1843); children: James, Stephen, John M., Andrew, Frances, Benjamin, Samuel, Vincent, Rachel, William and Jany. He died in 1835 and was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Miami County, Ohio. GM by Miami Chap with bronze marker. At Troy, Ohio, July 4, 1827 at a patriotic meeting several Revolutionary Veterans gave toasts at a banquet. Andrew Dye gave the following: "The Fourth of July, 1776, a day ever to be remembered; health and prosperity to all who assisted in delivering the present generation from the weight of the yoke of British tyranny." Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
