Author: John Robinson Hundley III
Richard Durrett Jr. was born about 1735 the son of Richard Durrett Sr. and Sarah Hampton. He served as a soldier in Lieutenant George Gilmer's company of the Albemarle County, Virginia Militia and also had a public service claim for rendering material aid to the Revolution. He married Elizabeth Davis, daughter of patriot Isaac Davis, December 30 1758. He died November 1, 1820 and is buried in Wakefield Cemetery in Albemarle County, Virginia. His daughter Susan married Thomas Garth Jr.
